During a nearly eight-hour meeting, dozens of speakers took to the podium to try to save International Newcomer Academy. This specialized campus focuses on teaching English as a second language to emerging bilingual students.

While there are several things in public school districts that don’t work and need improvement there are GOOD things too. Cutting essential jobs for SPED and dual language learners is not only going to hurt the students, but also put more strain on the teachers that are still there. Our teachers are already overwhelmed and lack full administrative support in some districts which is why we have a teacher shortage. Fort Worth ISD, along with other districts need to slow down, consider community input, and think about what is best for our students AND educators.
