Next week, schools across the state are set to receive their first accountability ratings in years after the pandemic and multiple lawsuits delayed their release. The Texas Education Agency grades schools just like their students on a scale of A-F. Heather Sheffield is a lobbyist with the Association of Texas Professional Educators. She says, in simplest terms, that these scores are a way for the state to measure a school's performance. "Some advocates for public education say that the A-F accountability system has really been to shame and blame school districts. So, it has not gone without controversy." Sheffield said.
