The next wave of applications for ATPE state committee service is now open. Apply by Nov. 17 to be considered for winter/spring service on the Public Information, Resolutions, ATPE-PAC, Educator of the Year, and Leader of the Year committees! This is a great way to dip your toe into ATPE leadership. I have previously served on the Membership, ATPE-PAC, Legislative, and Resolutions committee, including serving as chair of the Legislative and ATPE-PAC committees.
ATPE’s standing and special committees play a critical role in ATPE’s member-governed structure. The members serving on these committees share important feedback on key ATPE initiatives, as well as set the stage for the annual House of Delegates meeting. If you’ve ever thought you’d like to be more involved in your professional association, this is your opportunity!
Here's some more about these committees:
- Public Information: Reviews ATPE’s publications, website and online presence, and media coverage. They also review the finalists for the Alafair Hammett Media Award and select a winner. The Public Information Committee will meet virtually in January and April 2025.
- Resolutions: Reviews ATPE’s current and standing resolutions and propose recommendations to be considered by the House of Delegates. The Resolutions Committee will meet virtually in March 2025.
- ATPE Political Action Committee (ATPE-PAC): Reviews ATPE-PAC revenue and expenditures, general election results for PAC-supported candidates, and brainstorms PAC fundraising plans. ATPE-PAC will meet virtually in Spring 2025.
- Educator of the Year (EOY): Reviews EOY award applications, interviews finalists, and selects winners. The EOY Committee will meet virtually for several hours on Saturday, April 5, 2025.
- Leader of the Year (LOY): Reviews and scores LOY and Doug Rogers Campus Representative of the Year Award applications, interviews finalists, and selects winners. The LOY Committee will meet virtually for several hours on Saturday, April 5, 2025.
