Hello everyone,
I would like to highlight a feature story I recently wrote for ATPE News about an inspiring student-led effort to confront eating disorder stigma in schools titled Breaking the Silence: Students and Survivors Lead a Movement Against Eating Disorders in Schools.
What started as a single school club at McNeil High School in Round Rock has now grown into a nationwide initiative called Project EDSA. Led by student Niyati Mankotia, the campaign has expanded to over 25 chapters across 17 states, with more than 80 volunteers from 13 countries. Project EDSA equips students with the tools, resources, and support to start mental health clubs and awareness efforts in their own schools.
The story also features Jason Wood, a survivor who turned his recovery into advocacy work. After battling an undiagnosed eating disorder for years, Jason began sharing his experience online, eventually writing a memoir and speaking at schools across the country. Today, he serves as ANAD's director of community engagement, leading peer support groups and mentoring young advocates through the Student Ambassador Program.

Now, tell us your thoughts. How can schools better support students who are struggling with eating disorders or body image issues, both inside and outside the classroom?
