The Texas House of Representatives was slated to take up two important pieces of legislation Tuesday in House Bill 6 and House Bill 124-bills looking to address classroom discipline and funding for school safety. The House voted 121-21 with two NPVs to approve HB 6 and send for engrossment after an amendment to the bill was approved alongside it. Monty Exter from the Association of Texas Professional Educators expressed support for the bill, acknowledging that current rules in place are not strong enough. "We've got a lot of discipline issues now that are happening in schools that actually are raising to the level of a safety concern for an educator," said Exter.
